In a small saucepan, add 2 cups of blueberries, maple syrup, and 1/4 cup water and bring to a steady simmer over medium low heat. Stirring occasionally to burst open the blueberries and prevent any sticking to the bottom, allow blueberries to cook down for 10-15 minutes, or until thick and sticky mixture forms.
Once oatmeal is cooked and blueberries form a sticky compote, portion into bowls and top with almonds, blueberry compote, remaining blueberries, and additional maple syrup to taste. Enjoy warm.
