Move aside apple pie, this Fresh Apple Skillet is the only apple dessert you’ll need this fall, Thanksgiving, holiday season, for the rest of your life, etc! I love this recipe because it is made with only a few simple ingredients, and it truly puts these fresh, crisp apples front and center – just the way I like it.
Without any of the syrupy nonsense that comes from store-bought apple pies and apple pie filling, you can fill up on all of the good stuff.
Here’s what you’ll need:
3 lb jazz apples
4 tbsp butter
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sliced almonds
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325F.
- Chop apples into thin slices. Prepare glaze by melting butter and stirring in with brown sugar and sliced almonds.
- Toss apples with glaze, stirring to evenly coat.
- Fill 12 inch cast iron with apples and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until apples are fork tender.
