Without any of the syrupy nonsense that comes from store-bought apple pies and apple pie filling, you can fill up on all of the good stuff.

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

3 lb jazz apples
4 tbsp butter
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sliced almonds

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. Chop apples into thin slices. Prepare glaze by melting butter and stirring in with brown sugar and sliced almonds.
  3. Toss apples with glaze, stirring to evenly coat.
  4. Fill 12 inch cast iron with apples and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until apples are fork tender.
