We whipped this recipe up for Father’s Day using the leftovers from a long weekend at the lake, but you would never have guessed it because it turned out to be a drool-worthy treat! This Banana French Toast Bake is TO DIE FOR. It’ll have your kitchen smelling like a bakery and your tastebuds singing with delight. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Glaze:
1/2 cup organic butter, melted
2/3 cup raw honey
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup almond milk
Base:
3 large eggs
1 cup egg whites
2/3 cup almond milk
3 medium bananas
8 slices whole grain or sprouted bread
Toppings:
1/2 cup chopped almonds
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375F
- In a large bowl, combine glaze ingredients
- In a separate bowl, combine base ingredients
- Lightly grease cast iron skillet with a small amount of the glaze
- Pour base ingredients into skillet and top with remaining glaze and nuts
- Bake in oven for 35 minutes
