We wouldn’t be true nut butter lovers if we didn’t try making our own homemade stuff – and let us tell you, it is so simple and fun! We shamelessly eat this stuff by the spoonful… not even kidding. Also, even when you look for a natural or clean label, it can be tricky to pick one without added junk like hydrogenated oils or added sugar – buzz.kill. Anyway, here is our base recipe with the few simple steps you can take to make your own ALMOND BUTTER!
Ingredients:
2 cups raw or roasted almonds
1 Tbs coconut oil (optional)
Sprinkle of salt (optional)
Directions:
- If you’re using raw almonds, we suggest roasting them in the oven at 350F for about 10 minutes, or until aromatic
- Toss ingredients into food processor or heavy-duty blender and blend for about 5 minutes, or until smooth – trust us, this can take a while, so be patient!
If you’re feeling fancy…
Add some cocoa powder and maple syrup for a chocolate spread
or
Add some honey and vanilla extract
or
sprinkle in some pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree for a fall-inspired spread
